With Wake County's massive growth it has made it difficult for the school system to keep up. Wake County schools represents the 15th largest in the entire country. Many areas are behind, but we have been thankful in Holly Springs as it sometimes can be challenging, overall we feel very fortunate.

In some cases, a school may be "capped", meaning the school has reached the maximum number of students it can serve. If a student’s base school has an enrollment cap, they will be assigned to an overflow school. Transportation is provided to a student’s overflow school.
In Holly Springs you have 2 choices for elementary and middle school, year round and traditional. Year round consists of 9 weeks on and 3 off. Below you can take a look at the different schools and options that are available for you. Apex our city to the north recently built a new High school, Apex Friendship. This was so needed as I have my daughter currently in Holly Springs High school. She informed me of how packed the classes were becoming and how much this has helped. Wake County Public School System bought land over by Woodcreek subdivision off Sunset lake where they plan on adding another High School as growth occurs.
Holly Ridge Elementary is a Traditional school led by Principal Joy Gorman. You can find great information on Wake County schools site. Holly Ridge PTA put together a facebook group so you can get information directly from the parents and teachers. They have a daily update called the Daily Bark , what a great way to get involved and keep you up to date.
Holly Springs Elementary is a year round school with Principal Windell Harris leading the way. The schools PTA put together a great website that is very informative and keeping you involved of what is going on. I highly recommend checking out the facebook page located at Holly Springs Elementary School PTA. I love the Mission they have on the facebook page. A powerful voice for the children of HSES. A relevant resource for families and our community. A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child at HSES. The schools Mascot is the Cheeta.
Holly Grove is a year round school and has a great leader in Mrs. Kathy Knezevic. All of my daughters went here as it opened in 2007. We have found the staff very supportive and awesome for acclimating new-comers. If your looking for more information from the parents make sure you check out Holly Groves facebook group. Holly Groves Mascot is home to the Hedgehogs. The school has a great resource in their website and blog where you can stay up to date with whats going on.
Oakview is a traditional school located by 12 Oaks. School was recently built in 2016 and led by Principal Steven Moore. For more information click here Oakviews website. I love the schools Mascot it's called the WISE Owls, slogan of Working collaboratively, Innovative, Successful Engaged leaders. The school has a very active PTA
Buckhorn Creek is our newest elementary and scheduled to open as a traditional school for the fall of 2018. The school will be open to approximately 900 new students. The school is located in the Southern part of Holly Springs in a high growth area. For more information you can click on the schools website Buckhorn Creek.
Holly Ridge Middle school is a traditional school led by Emily Mountford as principal. Holly Ridge was the first of the 2 middle schools here in Holly Springs. I did have my oldest go here and was very happy how they helped him get acclimated to a new school. The staff is very knowledgeable and supportive. One of the best ways to learn about the school is through Holly Ridge Middle facebook group. Holly Ridge has a great resource in the schools website
Holly Grove Middle is the official home of the Bulldogs. The school opened in 2010 and has had Ken Proulx as Principal from the beginning. Hes a great leader and keeps very involved. Holly Grove website is a great place to start and provides great information. The school also has a very active facebook page- Holly Grove Middle School PTA where parents, teachers and students have a voice.
Holly Springs High School just got nominated as one of the top 2,000 high schools in the country. Brian Pittman is Principal and does a very good job interacting with each student. I've heard from each of my children that he makes sure the students have a voice, and cares about their opinion. Rare in such a leadership position. The students have many opportunities to get involved and the staff does an incredible job educating and preparing them for the next level.
With the school not being very old they have already created some healthy sport rivalries in the area. I welcome everyone to go watch a game and see how much support is here. The baseball team just recently won the state championship. The schools Mascot is the Hawks...Go Hawks
